We here at The Handbook are huge proponents of anything that improves the school systems throughout the country. We have magnet and charter schools these days that destroy anything public schools can do, and recent studies show homeschool children crush all others in every possible subject.
So the question becomes how do we fix it so that parent who can’t afford private or charter schools, and don’t have the ability to homeschool their kids. Well it turns out that Florida and Arizona have come up with a plan that could work miracles.
Education Savings Accounts. Basically pre-loaded limited access debit cards that parents can use for their childrens education. It does what we here have wanted to see for ages. Let the market dictate which schools stay open. Allowing parents to shop for the best education for their kids is an amazing idea of allowing the market to work.
These cards are loaded with the money the state would have spent on the child anyway and given to the parents to pay for the education that will actually improve their childs life. Imagine that, introducing market based solutions to education. As you can imagine Teachers unions are not happy with this turn of events.
This doesn’t go far enough though. This should be the required method of school funding for every child. Whether your child go to a public or private school, when your child enrolls you turn over the debit card. Each quarter is a chance to move your child if your not happy.
Imagine how quickly schools would improve. Imagine how quickly shitty teachers would be removed. Imagine how good our education system would become, when teachers, schools, and school boards knew they only way to get funding was to please the consumer, you know, the students and their parents.
No more stuck sending your child to a certain school because thats where you live. No more limited school choice. Complete open market school systems. There would be no bad schools, because they wouldn’t last.
For years people have advocated for school choice, but it is usually a limited form of vouchers or the ability to cross district lines. I want the money to follow. In other school choice options the shitty schools are still getting funding because they are open. So the state has to fund them.
In my plan, the parents fund them. If your school sucks your school will not be around for long. Imagine how quickly schools will turn around. Not by some idiotic government standard, but by parents watching and observing their children. Realizing how well they are learning.
Think about the possibility of watching your child come home each day, excited about what they learned, growing into adult hood, and becoming well rounded. Great schools can assist you grow your child, shitty schools retard that growth.
Schools would have to answer to you. No more school board meetings where parents are silenced and only certain people are allowed to speak. No more teachers and administrators claiming they can’t give you the curriculium. You control it. You control the school.
Push for this people. While we are out there destroying common core, remember once we take away the power the money brings, we can truly begin to build a better future for our children.
