According to Politico Democratic operatives and WH aides are little worried that Obama has in essence blown his load already. He has signed so many unconstitutional EO’s the fear is he doesn’t have many more left he can sign while he builds his “legacy”
The problem they fear is that Congress would actually have to be a part of all the great utopian things he wants to give us. Well let’s take a gander at that pesky Constitution that keeps tying his hands shall we. Luckily we have a copy of that somewhere around here.. ahh yes, here it is.
So let’s take a look at some of the things he has violated The Constitution on already.
Immigration? Check. According to Article 1 Section 8
And just because you gotta pay for all that illegal immigration amnesty
Treaty with China? Check. Article 2 Section 2
Anyone seen 2/3 of Congress approve that yet?
Diplomatic Relationships with tyrannical regimes? Check.
A2. S2 and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors
Mandating a federal minimum wage? Check.
Although I understand that laws have been passed that required the use of union workers for all Federal Contracts. No where in the Constitution can I find anything that states Congress or POTUS can tell your employer how much they have to pay you.
Free College? Check
Again I cant even find where the Department of Ed. should be allowed to continue or have the Fed involved in college loans or funding, yet here we are.
And at the end they had this little nugget.
And finally, there may be some opportunity for progress on Obama’s priorities by looking outside the United States, including at talks in Paris later this year to try to reach a global climate agreement. Goolsbee says the administration can also seek more individual environmental agreements modeled after the one Obama reached with China in November to limit both nations’ greenhouse gas emissions. That’s a ripe area for Obama to explore on his own, he said, since those kinds of agreements fall under Obama’s foreign policy authority.
Couple things there. First, he can agree to any treaty he wants, Congress still has to approve it or it isn’t worth the paper its written on. Second the agreement with China only affects our “greenhouse gas” emissions. Not China.
So that whole fear of him running out of things he can do without Congress is a myth. There were very few things he could do without Congress to start with. It was designed that way with our co-equal branches and separation of powers and all. Yet he did them anyway because Congress has no spine to stand up for their own power. You would think a group of people who’s sole ambition in life is as much power as they can get would fight on that ground alone.
Remember kids its all about knowledge. See once more people actually take the time to read that pesky document that outlines our governmental functions the more you can find things that can be completely eradicated from the budget thereby saving us money. After all the Constitution was never meant to control the people, it was specifically designed to limit and control the federal government.
People have forgotten that and it is time we teach that again.
