Now I know what I’m about to propose is a bit out there in this day and age, but follow me anyway.
See apparently the Turtle, his democrat allies, and those that have never read or seen the Constitution in the Senate just passed a…. Spending Bill.. one that funds all of Obama’s wet dreams in a 77-19 vote.
Now yesterday we here at the Handbook made a point ol’ Johnny boy about who controls the money. Let us revisit that.
A1S7 states “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.”
See what that says there? All revenue bills must be done in the House of Representatives. I.e. Not the Senate.
I get it someone out there is going to say this is a spending bill though. Honestly believe that this bill says nothing about taxes, or revenue of any kind?
Look I realize that this is how things work now. No one follows the rules laid out in the founding document that proscribes the rules to be followed. However, if we had a Speaker with a set, the response would be. “That’s great. I’m glad the Senate finally found a way to pass something, unfortunately they proposed and passed a bill that can only be proposed in the House. Our bill shall be sent to them soon enough.”
And then stand on that. Do not ever vote on their bill. Ever. The Senate does not get to control funding. Only the House does. This is because the Founders knew the money was the people’s money. Therefore the House of the People should have complete and total control over the money.
But hey it’s worked so well lately ignoring those rules, why start now right?
